Would you like to explore the trails in Gatineau Park but need a little extra support? No problem! The Hippocampe is the perfect piece of equipment for you. This ultra-lightweight mobility chair is ideal for a walk, getting into the water for a swim, or even enjoying the beach.
Simply sit comfortably in this all-terrain chair, and with the help of a friend or family member, nothing will stop you from enjoying the summer.
Do not use this equipment on mountain bike trails.
A companion is required to use this equipment, as someone must push the chair. The user must also be independent in preparing for the activity. Talk to your family and friends and plan your adventure together!
Beach wheels can also be installed.
Dimensions:
- Seat width: 15.7 inches
- Medium size: suitable for people between 4'5" and 5'4"
- Maximum user weight: 250 lb or less
Straps and the safety belt are mandatory. A harness can also be installed for improved trunk stability.

A rental service with personalized support tailored to your needs
The rental of adapted equipment includes accompaniment during the first outing. A Relais Plein Air staff member will assist you with a safe setup, help you become familiar with the equipment, and ensure the experience is tailored to your needs. This is how we provide a safe and enjoyable outdoor experience.
How it works:
- Before your first visit: Please complete the Inclusive and Adapted Activities Profile Form (link here). Once the form is received, our kinesiologist may contact you to assess your request.
- First outing: Your attendant will take care of you — including setup, familiarization with the equipment, and verifying your abilities before departure.
Don’t need accompaniment?
Please indicate this in your form — our team will review your request and confirm whether you can rent the equipment independently.
The team reserves the right to refuse access at any time if there is a risk to your safety. Some equipment may have specific safety instructions, which will be presented to you during your first outing.
Loans are also offered to organizations and schools.
