Yin Yoga is a gentle and meditative practice that differs from more dynamic styles of yoga. It is characterized by postures held for extended periods, usually between 3 and 5 minutes, promoting deep relaxation and stretching of connective tissues such as ligaments, tendons, and fascia.
Origins: Yin Yoga emerged in the 1970s, combining elements of Hatha Yoga and Chinese Taoist practices. The term “Yin Yoga” was introduced by Sarah Powers to distinguish this approach from traditional Taoist yoga.
