Yoga of Awareness
Kripalu Yoga is a gentle, introspective form of Hatha Yoga that emphasizes meditation in motion, self-compassion, and deep listening to the body.
The pillars that define this practice:
A non-judgmental approach:
Unlike other styles that focus more on physical performance or strict alignment, Kripalu Yoga encourages you to accept your body as it is, embrace your limitations with kindness, and move at your own pace.
The three stages of development:
The practice generally progresses through three phases:
- Mastering the postures (learning basic alignment while listening to the body's signals).
- Concentration and sustained postures (observing the emotions and thoughts that arise).
- Meditation in motion (allowing the body to move fluidly and intuitively, guided by the breath).
Bringing the practice off the mat:
The ultimate goal of Kripalu Yoga is to integrate the clarity of mind, compassion, and self-awareness cultivated during practice into everyday life.
